“Releasing the prisoners through the German mediator is a huge failure of Israeli policy,” Seniora said in a statement released by his press office Tuesday.

Seniora, a western-backed Prime Minister in Lebanon stressed that “the success of Hezbollah is a national success for the party and for the struggle of the Lebanese because it secured national goals which Israel always refused to respect.”

Seniora has been accused by Hezbollah of implementing the American policy in Lebanon, and is considered a political enemy to the party.

The Israeli cabinet approved Sunday a deal mediated by Germany to hand over five Lebanese prisoners and some Palestinians to Hezbollah.

Media reports said the two Israeli soldiers whose capture sparked the July 2006 war in Lebanon might be dead, and their bodies along with remains of other soldiers killed in 2006 war would be turned over to Israel.
