Washington : Thousands of US citizens supporting democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama criticized his decision to support a law to strengthen domestic espionage, noted The New York Times newspaper.
According to the source, many individuals are joining a protest against the African American candidate’s position, through the same ways they used to back him a few days ago.
About 7,000 people showed their disagreement in a web site established to boost Illinois Senator’s campaign while others sent e-mails and made telephone calls, noted the influential newspaper.
Obama expressed favor of the new law, which carries power for the President George W. Bush administration to strengthen the US citizens vigilance and protect telecommunication companies that help in that purpose, noted the rotary.
“I have never seen before so many supporters of Obama opposed to his criteria,” commented the administrator of the Glenn Greenwald web site who considered the decision of the senator treason.
The controversial law expects to substitute the Foreign Intelligence Vigilance Law sanctioned in 1978 and known as FISA, in English.
