Jammu : Army Commander, Western Command Lt Gen TK Sapru, has arrived here to discuss the internal security, ahead of the political instability in state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides interacting with the all levels of commanders from Tiger Division and other formations, Lt Gen Sapru also had a meeting with civil officials and senior bureaucrats of the state, sources told NAK.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) Tiger Division, Maj Gen DL Chowdhary, received the Army Commander at the Technical Area and briefed him about the events of Jammu region where curfew has been imposed.
The Army Commander later visited one of the formations in the sector and carried out detailed interaction with Commanders at all levels.
“During the visit, the Army Commander also interacted with few Government officials and discuss the prevailing situation with them” Defense spokesman told NAK.
Lt Gen Sapru also reviewed the security situation prevailing in Jammu and other areas of the region.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that the army commander has conveyed his directions to meet the challenges during the situation arising from the situation in the state.
Lt Gen Sapru is also expected to meet with many senior military commanders to discuss other Army related issues.
Sources told NAK that keeping political instability in view there is every chance of Governors rule in the state as every political party including NC, PDP and JKNPP has ruled out any support to Azad government which has to prove majority on July 7.
“I don’t think that government in the state will run” a political analyst said, adding the situation which arise out of the ‘controversial land transfer order’ in the state may force governor to take the reins of power till the elections are announce.
It is presumed that once the Governor rule is imposed the internal security of the state is handed over to the Army and the arrival of the army commander is said to be a part of the preparations for maintaining law and order situation of the state. (NAK)
