New Delhi : The government has appointed Sushma Singh as secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Singh, a 1972 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Jharkhand cadre, took over her new post here Friday.
Singh was secretary in the Panchayati Raj ministry before.
A veteran bureaucrat, she takes charge at a time when the information and broadcasting ministry is trying to finalise a broadcast code and guidelines for reality shows.
Civil Aviation Secretary Ashok Chawla was given additional charge as secretary in the ministry last month after Asha Swarup, the then secretary in the information and broadcasting ministry, was transferred to Himachal Pradesh as chief secretary.
