Beirut : All obstacles hindering the formation of a national unity government were removed Friday night, and the political parties are now aware of the portfolios their representatives will be holding.
Sources close to the Presidential Palace told KUNA that the formation of the new government would be made in the coming few hours, noting that Premier-designate Fuad Siniora was expected to arrive at the palace with the draft of the cabinet lineup.
Meanwhile, those who visited President Michel Suleiman reported that he was content with the outcome of deliberations which he had undertaken.
On Friday, Suleiman had met with representatives of the Future Bloc MP, Hezbollah, Amal Movement, Lebanese Forces Party, and the Reform and Change Bloc.
The sources said the president had yet to reveal the names of the three ministers that he himself would be appointing.
The Doha Accord, reached by the Lebanese political parties in the Qatari capital, stipulates that the 30-minister government include 16 seats for the majority and 11 for the opposition, while the remaining three ministers would be appointed by the president.
