Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 7th to 9th for attending the D-8 Conference, it was officially announced on Saturday.
The Developing 8 (D-8 or Developing Eight) are a group of developing countries that have formed an economic development alliance.
It consists of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
The group was established after an announcement in Istanbul, Turkey on June 15, 1997. Combined, the countries made up 13.5% of the global population in 1997.
On the sidelines of the Conference, Prime Minister Gilani would also hold meetings with various heads of governments including the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Chief Executive of Bangladesh, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said.
The Prime Minister’s entourage comprises Ministers, members of coalition parties, minorities, Opposition and women, it said.
The main areas of D-8 cooperation include finance, banking, rural development, science and technology, humanitarian development, agriculture, energy, environment, and health.
