Paes, who reached the last four of the Grand Slam with Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy, is placed 15th in the rankings declared Monday.

Mahesh Bhupathi, despite making another first round exit in Wimbledon after the French Open with Mark Knowles of Bahamas, has also moved up one place and is at 12th position.

Sania Mirza, who lost in the singles second round in Wimbledon, slipped one rung in the Women Tennis Association (WTA) and is placed 33rd.

However in doubles she moved up one spot after her quarter-final appearance with American Bethanie Mattek to be at the 18th position.

Her doubles partner for the Olympics, Sunitha Rao moved eight places in her singles rankings to be at 144th while she moved three places in her doubles to 125th.

The top rankings in the men and women remain intact. Though there were some major upheavals in the middle with the Wimbledon giant-killers striding their way up.

Swiss Roger Federer lost his Wimbledon crown to Rafael Nadal but held on to his no.1 ranking. The Spaniard though closed the gap and at 6055 points, he is 545 points behind Federer.

Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic continues to be leading lady in women’s tennis. Wimbledon champion Venus Williams stayed at seventh place while her sister Serena moved up one place to fifth.

The biggest mover in the singles list was Chinese Zheng Jie, who became the first wild card holder to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals. Jie jumped a staggering 93 places to 40 in the WTA charts.

Another giant-killer in Wimbledon Thailand’s Tamarine Tanasugaran, who reached the quarter-final, leapfrogged 23 places to be at 37.

In men’s charts, mercurial Marat Safin, who shrugged of a prolonged form-slump and revived his career to reach the semi-final with the scalp of Novak Djokovic in the second round, went up 35 places to 40th.
