Deputies approved a draft declaration to be submitted to the Ordinary Period of Sessions of the 7th Legislature on Friday and denounced the criminalization of immigration.

The European regulation increases to 18 months the possible detention time for illegal immigrants in infrahuman conditions and authorizes the arrest and deportation of minors to third countries.

The Cuban Parliament committee said worsening economic situation, disintegration of the welfare state, the high cost of living, rising unemployment and the flowering of xenophobic tendencies led to the approval of this law.

The EU expels illegal immigrants, who are profoundly discriminated against, marginalized and subject to tough work Europeans refuse to do, but at the same time it foments brain drain, a real outflow of Third World talent, the committee denounced.

Cuban deputies condemned the detention centers, which are real concentration camps, and the flagrant violation of human rights and of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

They also called the international community, especially the parliaments around the world, to express their rejection of this discriminatory, shameful EU decision.
