One suggestion is to allow Iranian students to transfer their credit hours for certain subjects, he adds. The request was made by his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Mahmoud Mollabashi, during their meeting at Parliament House here Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Idris said Mollabashi also expressed the hope that the study duration for Iranian students pursuing degrees here would be shortened in line with the study duration in the republic.

“All matters that were discussed will be referred to the vice-chancellors of the universities concerned,” Idris said.

Idris admitted that the credit hour transfer was a long-standing issue affecting foreign students wishing to pursue studies in Malaysia.

“We will study and review the issue to co-ordinate the transfer of credit hours for certain subjects. If it is not resolved, it will definitely affect the learning quality of that individual,” he said.

Currently, there are 3,000 Iranian students pursuing studies in various fields at Malaysian universities.
