“The investigation will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Olmert’s official residence in Jerusalem,” the Israeli radio reported, citing police sources.

The sources said “this round of questioning is the third that Olmert is facing over two months and will focus on suspicions that he received illegal funds from the Jewish American businessman Morris Talansky when he was a minister in a former government.”

Olmert constantly denies any involvement in financial corruption cases, but police investigations lowered the Israeli public support for his government and his party, Kadima.

The party will hold elections to choose a new leader before the end of next September.

The Israeli Police sent an investigative team last month to the USA where it made inquiries into Olmert’s involvement in financial misconduct which may lead to trial.
