IUML to clear its nuclear deal stand Thursday

Malappuram : The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Wednesday said here it will make its stand clear on the India-US nuclear deal Thursday.

IUML has conveyed its serious concern over the deal to United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Minster of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed said.

Ahamed, the lone representative of the IUML in the Lok Sabha, was speaking to a TV channel after holding talks with his party supremo Panakkad Muhammadali Shihab Thangal.

Ahamed said that the IUML will make its stand clear on the nuclear deal after the meeting of its leaders Thursday. The IUML is a constituent of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

Meanwhile, the youth wing of the Indian National League, a Left ally with one legislator in the Kerala assembly, has demanded of the IUML to withdraw Ahamed from the UPA government.

“The nuclear deal is totally against the interest of the nation as well as the international Muslim community,” Siraj Ibrahim Sait, NYL national president told reporters here Wednesday.
