Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh police Sunday shot dead a dacoit, carrying a reward of Rs.20,000, and his accomplice in a shootout in Jalaun district, sources said.
The slain dacoit, Rajiv Singh, and his associate, who also carried a reward of Rs.10,000, were wanted in over two dozen cases of murder and kidnapping in Jalaun and neighbouring districts of Jhansi, Kanpur, Itawah and Hamirpur, additional superintendent of police A.K. Shukla told IANS on phone.
“The encounter took place in the ravines of Jalaun in the wee hours and we also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the spot,” Shukla said
