Mumbai: In a fresh move to resolve the crisis in Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JUH), a four-member committee has been formed. The committee will try to resolve all disputes related to JUH leadership through dialogue within 6 weeks.
According to a UNI news report, noted legalist Majeed Memon, along with renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, has been appointed independent arbitrator. Memon has been quoted saying that in the committee JUH leader and MP Maulana Mahmood Madani will be represented by Maulana Neyaz Ahmad Farooqui and Maulana Arshad Madani will be represented by Mufti Ashfaq Ahmad.
The dispute in the oldest Muslim organization began on March 6 this year when its executive committee passed a no-confidence motion against the sitting president Maulana Arshad Madani. Both groups claimed to be real organization. Darul Uloom Deoband rector Maulana Marghoobur Rahman tried to resolve the crisis but could not initiate process for some reasons, one of them reportedly was that groups were not ready to accept his decision as final.
Memon said the committee will decide in the light of the JUH constitution. He further said that the committee has been vested with power so much that its decision will be accepted by the parties. And consequently, all cases pending in Delhi High Court and Allahabad High Court and other courts will be withdrawn.
