Jammu, India : With a fresh batch of 1033 pilgrims today proceeding to the Amarnath cave shrine, a total of 51,440 devotees have so far left the base camp here for the Lord Shiva temple in south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said.
The batch, comprising 209 women and seven children, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in the wee hours today in a fleet of 36 vehicles, they said.
The pilgrimage to the 3,880 metre high holy cave, housing the naturally forced ice-shivlingam, has commenced on June 17 and would end on August 16.
