MoUs worth Rs. 2743 cr. proposed to the signed at Gwalior Investors Meet

Bhopal: Encouraging results are being yielded by the efforts of Madhya Pradesh Government to attract reputed industrialists towards investing in industry, energy, information technology, food processing and other sectors.

Giving this information, Industry Minister Jayant Malaiya claimed that so far 241 MoUs worth Rs. 2,76,550 crore have been inked at various investors meets in Madhya Pradesh. As many as 128 agreements to the tune of Rs. 170020 crore were signed in industry sector. The work of initial implementation of 45 of these units worth Rs. 98823 has begun while survey work of 69 units worth Rs. 67434 crore is under progress. He said that MoUs worth 2743 crore were expected to the signed in the Gwalior Investors Meet. He was reviewing the preparations for the meet to be held on July 29 and 30.

Malaiya informed that production in seven units out of 241, MoUs for which were signed at various investors meets, has already begun while construction of 12 units has got underway. He informed that 51 units are in the stage of initial implementation while survey for 133 more MoUs is going on. He informed that one each agreement was signed at Khajuraho and Indore out of the seven units in industry sector where production has started. Another food processing unit established under MoU signed at Khajuraho has also started production. The units where production has begun included four other sector units, agreements for which were signed abroad.

Industry Minister Malaiya informed that the construction work has been started under 12 MoUs. Five each of these MoUs were signed for industry and information technology sectors. The work of an agreement signed abroad as well as Bina refinery is under progress. Besides, Hindalco units are also coming up. He said that 36 out of 51 units, which are in the stage of initial implementation, belong to industry, eight to energy, one to food processing and two belong to tourism sectors. The work of two other MoUs signed in the foreign countries is also under progress.

He said that informed that the survey work for establishing 133 units, MoUs for which have been signed, was being undertaken. Out of these 14 are in industry sector, nine in energy, two in food processing and two in technical education sectors apart from 11 MoUs which were inked abroad.

The Industry Minister informed that maximum 128 investment proposals have been received in industry sector costing Rs. 170020 crore. He said that out of these 128 MoUs, implementation on two agreements to the tune of Rs. 85 crore has been started. Twenty-two MoUs have been signed in energy sector amounting to Rs. 88912 crore and 18 in information technology sector costing Rs. 6987 crore. The lone MoU worth Rs. 2931 in higher education sector was signed at Indore Investors Summit. In food processing sector, 38 agreements worth Rs. 4330 were inked and four in health sector which amounted to Rs. 1685 crore. At Khajuraho, four MoUs to the tune of Rs 585 crore were signed in technical education, tourism and other sectors. Similarly, 19 MoUs worth Rs. 1100 crore were inked in foreign countries.
