A statement from the Defence Ministry here said the clash took place in Wanat area of the remote Nuristan province on Monday. It is the same zone where the Taliban militants killed nine ISAF troops following an attack on their outpost on Sunday.

Earlier, the foreign troops had allegedly killed 17 Afghan civilians in an air strike in the same province. The Defence Ministry says that an Arab national was also captured in the area during the operation. It did not give his name and name of country of the detainee. Security situation in the border areas of Afghanistan is worsening day by day. It was reported that the NATO and US troops are gathering in Khost province along the border with Pakistan. The Afghan government and the NATO troops say militants from the lawless Pakistani tribal areas were illegally crossing the border to carry out attacks on the Afghan and foreign troops. They see the recent increase in violence as a result of Pakistan’s signing of peace agreements with militants in the tribal areas.
