Bhopal: Forty-five lakh 62 thousand hectare area has been selected under Rajiv Gandhi Watershed Management Mission in Madhya Pradesh.
This is country’s biggest watershed scheme. Besides, arrangements for effective monitoring of various ongoing departmental schemes have also been made. As soon as an irregularity is reported from anywhere, immediate action on it is taken. This information was given by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh at the meeting of state level vigilance and evaluation committee held yesterday at the state secretariat Mantralaya.
The meeting was informed that 12,631 kilometre long roads have been constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana connecting over 4400 villages with the mainstream of development. Singh said that 345 lakh mandays worth employment have been generated by May-end under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, (NREGS), providing employment to 20 lakh families at the local level. The meeting was informed that more than 11,000 houses would be built in the state this year for people of weaker sections under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.
Beneficiaries of Nandan Phalodyan sub-plan of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would now be able to choose saplings of their liking, according to another information provided at the meeting. For this purpose saplings are being provided at Janpad Panchayat level.
The schemes reviewed at the meeting included Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana, Total Sanitation Campaign, Swajal Dhara, Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar, Backward Region Grant Fund, Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak, Rajiv Gandhi WatershedMission, Madhya Pradesh District Poverty Initiative Programme, Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Scheme, Jalabhishek Abhiyan, Midday Meal and works being under taken in the state under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
