New Delhi : India’s Saina Nehwal’s preparation for the Beijing Games received a boost as she moved up two places to the 16th spot in the latest women’s singles rankings released by the International Badminton Federation (IBF) Thursday.
Saina, who will participate in her first Olympics this August, broke into the top-20 earlier this month when she jumped three places to 18th spot. She was in top form in the Asian circuit last month and notched up some big upset victories.
She became the first Indian women to reach the semi-final of a Super Series event at the Singapore Open. Saina then carried on her impressive form at the Thailand Open and reached the quarterfinal before being subdued by Chinese top-seed Xie Xingfang.
In men’s single’s rankings, Anup Sridhar moved up one spot to 30th while Chetan Anand and Arvind Bhat are 37th and 42nd respectively.
