Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) president M.H. Jawahirullah in his letter Thursday to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi asked him to direct the DMK Lok Sabha members to support the Left parties during the confidence motion, in opposition to the government.

The letter follows Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat’s invitation Wednesday night to political parties in the United Progressive Alliance here at a public meeting to desert the Congress and “join us”.

Urging the DMK patriarch to “direct the DMK Lok Sabha members to support the Left parties during the confidence motion against the Singh government in the interest of our country”, the TMMK letter says the “n-deal abrogates our country’s sovereignty and independence”.
