Chandigarh : The Punjab government has announced the setting up of four water treatment plants in the river Kalibein as part of its fight against pollution.
The four water treatment plants, costing Rs.270 million, would be installed in Bhulath, Begowal, Tanda and Dasuya towns along the banks of river Kalibein.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced the decision after his meeting with Balbir Singh Seechewal of Nirmal Kuteya in Jalandhar district Wednesday.
Seechewal has been actively involved in the cleaning of river Kalibein through voluntary efforts for many years now.
Badal assured Seechewal that the state government would extend full support and cooperation to him in his mission. He also called upon other voluntary, social and religious organisations to come forward to tackle the menace of water pollution in the state.
