New Delhi: The terrorists who attacked Haj House in Dwarika should be arrested immediately and the new Haj House should be built in some Muslim locality, demanded Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly, Shoaib Iqbal yesterday.
If these two demands are not met within a fortnight, a powerful protest movement will be launched against the Delhi government, warned Iqbal addressing a public demonstration at Jama Masjid after Friday Prayer. The demonstration was organized to protest against the attack on under-construction Haj House by some reportedly Hindutva extremists.
Iqbal said common Muslims and leaders had requested the government not to decide construction of the new Haj House in the area that has hardly Muslim presence. The day the foundation stone of the Haj House was being laid in Dwarika, Iqbal was staging a protest demonstration at Turkman Gate, appealing the government to construct the building in or around Walled City area.
Shoaib Iqbal reiterated, “What is the need to construct the Haj House 40 kilometres away from central Delhi when Wakf Board possesses adequate lands in Minto Road area, Mata Sundari Lane, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Ansari Road and Darya Ganj?” He asked “What shall happen after its construction when RSS, Bajrang Dal and VHP men have started their attacks even before the construction?”
