New Delhi : At least 15 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were killed and several injured as government troopers Sunday captured a rebel base in Sri Lanka’s Northwestern Mannar district after two decades.
The government forces today captured Iluppaikkadavai, near Vidattaltivu, Sri Lankan Defence Ministry said in a statement at Colombo today.
Illupaikkadavai was the largest LTTE base on the Northwestern coast, the Ministry added.
Fifteen rebels were killed and several injured in the operation.
The LTTE is yet to react to the incident.
