Iran appoints new Foreign Ministry spokesman

Tehran : Iran’s former Ambassador to Sweden, Hassan Qashqavi, has been appointed as new spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Iranian English-language satellite channel Press TV reported on Sunday.

Qashqavi had served as Iran’s envoy to Stockholm since 2004, Press TV reported.

He was also the ambassador to Kazakhstan, and a lawmaker prior to being appointed ambassador to Sweden.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini, who has served as Foreign Ministry spokesman for the past three years, is to take the post of deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, the report said.
