Tel Aviv : An Israeli soldier who fired a rubber-coated bullet at a handcuffed Palestinian was arrested and the officer holding the man was detained for questioning, Israeli media reported on Monday.
Video footage of the incident was released Sunday by the Israeli rights organization B’tselem.
It was filmed July 7 by a 14-year-old Palestinian school girl during a demonstration in the West Bank village of Nil’in against a separation barrier Israel was building.
In the clip, the Palestinian, Ashraf Abu Rahma, 27, is seen standing, blindfolded and handcuffed, next to a military jeep.
A soldier takes aim, checks it twice, and then apparently fires at or near his foot from a very close distance.
Abu Rahma said he suffered slight injury to his toe.
A lieutenant-colonel seen holding Abu Rahma’s hand while he was shot at was being questioned.
