The Turkish security forces clashed with a group of PKK militants in a mountainous area in Yuksekova town of Hakkari province, according to the report.

In a separate incident in the southeastern province of Sirnak, a security officer was wounded when explosives planted on a road went off.

The PKK, which is listed as a terror organization by the United States, Turkey and the European Union, has been battling for more than two decades for autonomy in southeastern Turkey. They use strongholds in northern Iraq for cross-border raids and about 40,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
