Islamabad : The high court here relaxed Monday restrictions on controversial Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan under house arrest, saying he could meet all his friends and family members.
However, the Islamabad High Court ruled Khan would not be allowed to give interview to media regarding the country’s nuclear programme, Dawn TV reported.
Khan, founder of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, was put under house arrest in 2004 after he confessed on state-run television to illegally selling nuclear technology toforeign countries.
He was pardoned by President Pervez Musharraf after his confession but has remained in detention.
“If the verdict means guards outside my door, searching visitors, it’s not acceptable,” Dawn TV quoted Khan as saying.
Khan had demanded the new government review his detention and free him.
