Islamabad : Pakistan’s coalition parties will hold a meeting on Wednesday to evolve a strategy against terrorism and discuss ways to meet other challenges including inflation.
The meeting, convened by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, would be attended by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman AsifAli Zardari and heads of the two other parties.
But the PML-N chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will not attend the two-day meeting.
The issue of restoration of deposed judges sacked by President Pervez Musharraf last November is expected to come up for discussion. And the proposed expansion of the federal cabinet would be another topic at the meeting.
At the meeting, Gilani will brief the participants about the situation in the tribal areas and activities of security forces in the tribal areas.
The PPP and PML-N won the Feb. 18 general elections and formed a coalition government in March. But the ministers from the PML-N resigned after the two parties failed to bridge differences on the judge issue.
