Police officer killed, judge escapes assassination in Kirkuk – source

Irbil : Iraqi Police on Tuesday said that a senior Iraqi officer was shot dead and two policemen were injured in an explosion downtown Kirkuk in northern Iraq, while a judge escaped an assassination attempt.

A source at the Iraqi Police in Kirkuk told KUNA that an explosive device targeted the convoy of Police Lieut. Colonel Khabat Chirzad downtown Kirkuk, which led to his instant death and wounding two of his bodyguards.

Meanwhile, Judge at the Court of Kirkuk Mohammad Farhan escaped an assassination attempt after an explosive device targeted his vehicle in al-Wasetti neighborhood central Kirkuk, the source added.
