Syrian DPM for Economic Affairs holds talks with total group in Paris

Paris : Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah al-Dardari has held a meeting at the headquarters of the French company Total as a follow-up to the recent Syrian-French Summit between Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Nicolas Sarkozy.

The meeting Monday included heads of Total’s Middle East Department, including Director of the Middle East and Director of Exploration and Production Ladislas Paszkiewicz, General Director of Gas and New Energies Philippe Boisseau, and Director of Strategies Benoit Luc.

The two sides established a timeframe for programming cooperation between Syria and Total in the fields of petroleum, gas, renewable energy inside and outside Syria.

For his part, Paszkiewicz expressed hope that the meeting with al-Dardari will allow for developing relations with Syria.

In a statement to SANA, Paszkiewicz said that the company has remarkable activities in Syria and that there are fields that could be developed in the future.

He said that Total is working to improve relations with Syria, pointing out to the possibilities of development and cooperation.

He described the meetings with Syrian officials as necessary to decide what needs to be done.

He added that Total has a branch in Damascus, and that it is looking to update projects and means for developing cooperation between the two countries.
