Bangalore : Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said that Friday’s serial blasts in Bangalore were aimed at disturbing peace and creating panic.
“Seven blasts took place between 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. leaving one person dead and seven people injured,” he told reporters after an emergency cabinet meeting.
“This is the work of anti-social elements and anti-national forces,” he said.
“Bangalore enjoys the reputation of being the fourth largest tech hub in the world. It is the centre for IT and BT.
“People of Karnataka are known for peace and tolerance. This is a pre-planned action to create panic and disturbances.
“The situation is under control and I appeal to the people not to panic.
“We are keeping the central government informed of the development.
“The government is not declaring holiday for schools and colleges tomorrow (Saturday),” the chief minister said.
“A special police team has been set up for investigation and to nab the culprits,” he Yeddyurappa.
