As 21 blasts ripped through the city Saturday killing at least 50 and injuring 200, the five FM channels of the state decided to change their programming.

“After the blasts, our channel (FM 93.5) did away with commercial advertisements in between songs for two days. For the next few days we have decided to play only serious and patriotic songs,” said Geo George, a radio jockey in the Ahmedabad station of FM 93.5.

FM 93.5 has also stopped airing its tag line “Jhoomo Joschti Jhumo” (Enjoy to the fullest).

“Since the day of the blasts, all the FM channels have played only serious songs. Though the channels mentioned the blasts only when they occurred, the sombre mood is quite evident with no hip hop songs being aired,” said Malvika, a college student.
