Gaza : The Mideast talks to be held in Washington on Wednesday could be the “last” chance for peace negotiations, a Palestinian official said.
Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) Yasser Abd Rabbo told the Voice of Palestine radio station Monday that the Palestinian leadership is considering several options, including halting the negotiations with Israel.
The decision will be taken if Israel continues hindering the negotiations and keeps on executing crimes against the Palestinian people, expanding its settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank, demolishing Palestinian homes, and building the sectarian separation wall, he said.
The Palestinian negotiation delegation headed by Ahmad Quraie is expected to meet Wednesday with an Israeli delegation headed by Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The officials will discuss final status issues related to refugees, settlements, Jerusalem, an independent Palestinian state, borders, and water.
Rice has stressed Friday that the Palestinians and Israelis still have time to reach a peace agreement before end of 2008.
