Islamabad : Pakistan’s military on Monday expressed concern over cross-border attacks by the U.S.-led NATO forces as acting commander of the United States Central Command Martin Dempsey is visiting the country.
General Tariq Majid, chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) of Pakistan expressed the concern in a meeting with Dempsey in garrison city of Rawalpindi adjacent to Islamabad, said a military statement.
The meeting took place on the same day when suspected U.S. missiles hit a seminary in the bordering areas of northwestern Pakistan’s South Waziristan tribal agency, killing at least six people.
A U.S air strike killed 11 Pakistani soldiers in Pakistan’s Khyber tribal agency on the Afghan border last month.
“Our sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected, any violation in this regard could be detrimental to bilateral relations,” the statement quoted Tariq as saying.
