Kabul : A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) died of wounds on Tuesday by the insurgents’ attack in the restive southern Afghan province of Helmand, said an ISAF statement released here on Wednesday.
It occurred in Nahri Sarrj district of Helmand where the ISAF convoy was struck by the explosion manipulated by insurgents there,the statement said.
It is the ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
A total of 70,000 multi-national troops are deployed across Afghanistan with around 2,500 Canadian troops based in the restiveHelmand province for maintaining stability and helping in reconstruction.
Attacks on international troops are on the rise during past weeks when the Taliban militants continue to demonstrate their strength through suicide and roadside bombings.
Escalating insurgency and violent incidents have left around 2,500 people dead since January this year in the war-torn Afghanistan.
