Baghdad : The Iraqi parliament will hold an extraordinary session Sunday to vote on the provincial council elections bill, whose initial draft was rejected by the presidency council.
The MPs will meet on Sunday although the current legislative session ended Wednesday.
“The current legislative session of the Iraqi parliament has ended but an extraordinary sitting will be held on Sunday to vote on the draft law of the provincial council elections,” Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani told a news conference Wednesday.
The parliament approved the bill last week but Kurdish MPs withdrew from the session because of controversies in the draft law.
