According to the metropolitan newspaper, these criteria contrasts with the optimistic image the White House attempts to project on the supposed achievements in Iraq and hopeful predictions about the situation in the Levant, among others issues.

The Washington Post mentions statements of Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Donald M. Kerr, who mentioned as main concern the alleged camping of Al Qaeda organization in the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which Washington has not managed to eradicate.

According to Kerr, the annihilation of insurgency in Iraq and a peace accord between Palestinians and Israel people for the coming eight months are not very likely to happen.
