Dublin, (Ohio) : Indo-Swede Daniel Chopra’s see-saw showing in the Memorial tournament continued as he played a round of four-over 76, a day after his sizzling 68. His three round total of four-over 220 Saturday now sees him in tied 38th, a fall of 20 places from a round earlier.
Chopra lapsed into a series of errors as he failed to capitalize on the gains of second day and ended with a four-over 76 that saw him slip down the leader board after the third round of the Memorial Tournament at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Chopra had just one birdie through the day as against five bogeys with three on the front nine and another two on the back nine. His putting, which seemed on target on second day was off colour on the third. His bogeys came on fifth, sixth, ninth, 10th and 15th.
Matthew Goggin shot a one-under 71 in the rain-delayed third round to take a three-shot lead at eight-under 208. He was three clear of the group of five players in the tied second spot. Those in second were Matt Kuchar, Jerry Kelly, Mike Weir, Justin Rose and Kenny Perry, all five-under 211.
Phil Mickelson shot 70 leaving him nine shots back.
Goggin’s last victory was 10 years ago in the Australasian Tour Championship.
