Amsterdam : Pirates who hijacked a Dutch ship May 27 are threatening to kill the crew if the ship is stormed to liberate them, Dutch newswire ANP reported Monday.
According to ANP, the pirates told Somali Radio Garowe Monday they had hijacked the ship because it had allegedly entered Somali waters illegally for fishing purposes.
“The government does not act against these things,” one of the hijackers said.
The ship, owned by Reider Shipping from the northern Dutch town of Windschoten, is currently docked in the port of Bargal in northern Somalia.
Previously, Reider Shipping requested that the Somali authorities not use violence that could endanger the lives of the ship’s crew.
