Jakarta : An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale rocked Sumatra Island of Indonesia on Tuesday morning, but no damage or casualty was reported yet, local meteorology agency said here.
The quake struck at 09:26 Jakarta time (0226 GMT) with the epicenter at 103 kilometers southwest Tanah Massa town of North Sumatra province and at 37 kilometers in depth, an official of the agency said.
Indonesia sits at a vulnerable zone called “the Pacific Ring of Fire” where two continental plates meet that cause frequent volcanic movements.
