He urged the state unit presidents and all-India office bearers of the IYC to work unitedly, be proactive and strengthen the organisation for playing an effective role in the near future, said an IYC leader.

State unit presidents of the IYC from all over the country had gathered here for a two-day national executive committee meeting. “Several brainstorming sessions were held to discuss the future course of action,” said Madhumita, one of the senior IYC members.

The role of the IYC members in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, due in May 2009, was also explained to the state presidents.

Pawan Kumar Bansal, union minister of state for finance, addressed the IYC state presidents on the issue of spiralling prices and the reasons behind it.

The IYC national executive meets every two months. “Since Rahul-ji has taken over as IYC in-charge, the meetings are more regular and all the vacancies are being filled and the organisation is getting stronger each passing day,” said Pradeep Kumar Chaubey, spokesperson of IYC.
