Raipur : The police have released the sketch of a woman who allegedly walked away with an eight-year-old boy from the nursery ward of Chhattisgarh’s biggest government hospital here.
The sketch was put out Monday night on the basis of descriptions provided by Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Hospital nurses deputed in the nursery ward where the boy had been kid was kept.
The missing child belongs to a poor woman, Munni Bai, 25, who delivered the boy May 24 at the hospital. She was separated from her baby on medical grounds but was allowed to breastfeed him daily.
The woman slipped into coma Monday after the police and hospital authorities failed to trace her missing baby.
The child theft issue has generated a lot of interest in Raipur and its suburbs. It is the first case of its kind at the Ambedkar hospital.
Hospital authorities are preparing a list of women admitted to the hospital from May 24 in a bid to find out who could have taken part in the theft.
