Ukraine’s ex-foreign minister appointed envoy to Russia – paper

Moscow : Former Ukrainian foreign minister Konstantin Grishenko has been appointed ambassador to Russia, the Kommersant business daily quoted the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry as saying.

Grishenko, 55, served as the ex-Soviet state’s top diplomat from September 2003 to February 2005 in the government of former Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych.

Until recently, Grishenko was deputy head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.

The former ambassador to Russia, Oleg Demin, retired from his post on April 4 at the age of 60.
