Ahmedabad : Ahmedabad is fully geared up to meet any eventuality in case of heavy rain during the upcoming monsoon season, the city’s municipal commissioner I.P. Gautam said Wednesday.
“We’re fully prepared for the monsoon. Even if it is severe,” he said.
All arrangements were in place and the flood control room at the Tagore Hall will be operational from Thursday. Other control rooms in all six zones too will be operational the same day, Gautam told IANS.
All major digging works were stopped except work on manholes that are being attached with interceptors, which will help open the manhole lids automatically during overflows, he said.
A pre-monsoon action plan has already been set in motion. A 50-60 km storm drainage pipeline work too has been done to mitigate any flooding, Gautam said.
