Dubai : Oman’s national carrier Oman Air has announced it will commence daily operations to Kozhikode in Kerala from Thursday.
“The addition of Kozhikode demonstrates our long-term commitment to India. We look forward to developing our network further across India as we explore new opportunities,” Darwish Bin Ismail Al Balushi, secretary-general in Oman’s finance ministry and a member of Oman Air’s board of directors, said in a statement.
A large number of the 500,000-strong expatriate Indian community in Oman hails from Kerala.
Kozhikode will be the airline’s ninth Indian destination. According to the statement, India is “the prime single market” for Oman Air with a network of nine.
The other destinations in India Oman Air currently flies to are Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Lucknow, and Jaipur.
