Colombo : The British high commission here has decided to transfer some Sri Lankan visa applications to its mission in Chennai from June 9, it was announced Thursday.
“The British high commission is transferring some visa processes to the deputy high commission in Chennai as part of the UK Border Agency’s new business model,” the statement said.
Stressing that all visa applications would continue to be made at the British visa application centre in Colombo, the mission requested the Sri Lankan visa applicants to provide photocopies of all their supporting documents along with English translation from June 9.
“This change will not alter the cost of a UK visa or the level of service we provide. Visa application forms and photocopies of applicant’s personal documents will be sent by secure courier to Chennai,” it said.
Adding that the UK Border Agency was responsible for transporting the applications and supporting documents safely to and from Chennai, it said the “passports and original documents will remain at the British high commission in Colombo and will not be sent to Chennai”.
