Islamabad : Pakistan Thursday said it had lodged “a very strong protest” with the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan against missile strikes along the border that killed at least 10 people.
“A very strong protest has been launched at every level including the US and NATO,” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told the National Assembly.
More than 10 people were killed and scores injured in the US missile strike on the tribal region of Bajaur last month.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani took up the issue with US President George W. Bush at his meeting at Sharm el-Sheikh last month and expressed concern and anxiety of the Pakistani people, Qureshi said.
Pakistan is aware of its international obligations regarding the war on terror but it will not compromise when it comes to its national interests and sovereignty, he said.
