Gaza : An Israeli soldier was injured early on Friday during armed confrontation broke out with Palestinian activists in eastern Gaza Strip, the Israeli Army said in a statement.
Army spokesman told Israeli radio that armed Palestinians opened fire at an Israeli army patrol unit as it was conducting engineering works along the borders with Gaza Strip, injuring one soldier.
The soldier was mildly injured and admitted to a hospital in southern Israel, he added.
Meanwhile, an activist of Eziddin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, was killed in an Israeli incursion into the eastern sections of the Gaza Strip.
Armed clashes took place between Israeli special units and Palestinian Qassam fighters as the troops were caught in a infiltration attempt into Al-Shujaiya district.
The clashes killed a Palestinian and wounded several other civilians, it said.
