Kuwait : Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) Sheikh Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah will head to Qatar on Sunday to participate in the 46th extraordinary meeting of heads of GCC central banks and monetary institutions, slated June 9.
A CBK statement said Saturday that the meeting would discuss topics pertaining to joint GCC action, especially the monetary union and means to remove obstacles hindering this.
Participants will also discuss reports and minutes of meetings of technical committees, including the monetary union committee and the committee of legal experts.
Moreover, they will look into the draft agreement establishing the monetary union and its statute.
The GCC governors and heads of financial institutions meet bi-annually to exchange views and deliberate over economic, monetary and banking issues in the GCC.
