The source said the efforts from Arab countries are now focusing on finding a common form that could be the basis of a unity government’s political platform.

In this regard, Egypt has invited Hamas’ politburo chief Khaled Mashaal to Cairo as part of the efforts to end the Palestinian political, economic and security crisis.

The last Palestinian unity government was fired by President Mahmoud Abbas a year ago in response to Hamas’ violent takeover of the Gaza Strip where Abbas’ forces were routed.

Hams continued to rule the territory which Israel completely sealed off while Abbas formed a western-backed cabinet based in West Bank and banned any contacts with Hamas.

On Wednesday, Abbas said he is ready to talk with Hamas in order to resume national dialogue and end the division between the Hamas-ruled Gaza and the West Bank.
