Ranchi : Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has issued an advisory to ministers to use the helicopter once a month to save fuel.
“The chief minister’s office has informed all ministers that the (state-owned) helicopter will be available for their use once a month. The decision has been taken to save fuel,” said Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi, who is in charge of the finance department, Sunday.
“The chief minister’s office issued the advisory at the request of the finance department,” he said.
“We are finding out methods to further reduce the expenditure of the non-plan budget,” said Marandi.
The state government is trying to reduce the fuel consumption by ministers and officials. In Jharkhand, the fuel consumption varies between 1,200 litres and 2,100 litres per month per minister.
The fuel consumption expenses of the chief minister and his ministerial colleagues come to around Rs.1 million every month.
